Dr.Karen Hagerott
Karen Patterson Hagerott, Ph.D. is a Florida Licensed Psychologist specializing in Pediatric Neuropsychology. Originally from the Boston area, she obtained her B.S. degree Magna Cum Laude in Psychology from William Smith College and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a minor in Human Cognition from Wayne State University in Michigan. Dr. Hagerott obtained clinical training in pediatric neuropsychology at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Department of Psychology. Her master’s degree topic was Hemispheric Asymmetries in Auditory Processing and Cognitive Skills. Her dissertation was on the Neuropsychological Status of Preschool Age Cardiac Patients Treated with Extra- Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), with Ph.D. granted in 1990.
Since moving to the Pensacola area, she has worked closely with pediatricians and pediatric specialists, as well with many area agencies to provide neurosychological services to children, including Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital, Children’s Medical Services, and the Developmental Evaluation and Intervention (DEI) program at Sacred Heart Hospital. She consults with the Pediatric Residency Program at Sacred Heart Hospital/ Florida State University as an Assistant Professor to provide residents the opportunity to obtain further clinical training in psychological assessment. She previously served as an adjunct instructor at the University of West Florida, teaching Child Development. Dr. Hagerott has volunteered extensively with agencies which provide services to children with neurological needs, including the Epilepsy Service of Northwest Florida and Think First. Her professional affiliations include membership in the American Psychological Association, American Psychological Association Division 40 (Neuropsychology), International Neuropsychological Society (INS), National Academy of Neuropsychology (NAN), and the Florida Psychological Association. Dr. Hagerott is married and has two adult sons.
